Are you ready to make a real difference? The Comelec Employees Union (EU) is passionately urging every Filipino to vote wisely, especially given the rising public anger over corruption. This isn't just about casting a ballot; it's about shaping the future!
The Comelec-EU, representing over 5,000 rank-and-file employees nationwide, made their stance clear with a powerful message displayed at the Comelec office in Intramuros, Manila. Their call to action is simple: make informed choices in both national and local elections.
"As citizens of a democracy, it is our responsibility to not just vote, but to vote wisely," stated Mac Ramirez, Comelec-EU's campaigns and advocacy director. He emphasized that voting is our direct path to electing leaders of integrity. He passionately urged citizens to wake up and vote correctly, because our votes hold the power to secure a government that is clean, honest, and truly dedicated to the people's welfare.
But here's where it gets crucial: The Comelec-EU also highlights the importance of voter registration, declaring that "every vote counts and every registered voter strengthens our democracy." They want every eligible Filipino to register, because your vote is your voice, and it's an opportunity to shape the future. Imelda Panis, Comelec-EU National President, echoed this sentiment, encouraging everyone to visit their local Comelec office and register.
And this is the part most people miss: The Comelec is currently gearing up for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE), along with the inaugural Bangsamoro elections. Voter registration for the 2026 BSKE resumed on October 20 and will continue until May 18, 2026. However, the Bangsamoro areas are currently exempt due to the suspension of parliamentary polls.
As of November 30, the Comelec reported that over 700,000 applicants have registered, nearly reaching half of their target of 1.4 million new voters.
