In a candid moment, he hinted that his term could conclude next year, noting that his contract has already been extended three times and that such extensions have stirred discontent among certain quarters.

This development comes in the wake of comments from Pandan MP Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, who urged Pakatan Harapan (PH) to act promptly to restore public trust in the party’s commitment to combating corruption following PH’s disappointing performance in the 17th Sabah State Election (PRN).
Rafizi argued in the Dewan Rakyat that Azam Baki’s contract renewal should be reconsidered, suggesting that extending it a fourth time could undermine PH and PKR’s reputation as hardliners against corruption.
Rafizi further noted that the ongoing controversies surrounding Azam have fueled calls for a change in leadership, asserting that it may be time to discontinue the current contract to preserve credibility and demonstrate resolve against corruption.
